- canned tuna in water - 200 grams (drained)
- sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
- green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- garlic (minced) - 1 clove
- egg - 1 large
- panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- whole grain burger buns - 2
- mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- kimchi (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- leaf lettuce - 2 leaves
- sliced cucumber - 1/2 cucumber
- sliced tomato - 1 medium
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, sesame oil, gochujang, green onion, minced garlic, egg, panko breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the tuna mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the kimchi mayo by mixing the mayonnaise and chopped kimchi in a small bowl.
- Toast the whole grain burger buns in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the kimchi mayo on the bottom bun, adding the lettuce, tuna patty, sliced cucumber, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with a side of pickled vegetables or sweet potato fries.
