Ingredients

  • canned tuna in water - 200 grams (drained)
  • sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
  • green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • egg - 1 large
  • panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • whole grain burger buns - 2
  • mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • kimchi (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • leaf lettuce - 2 leaves
  • sliced cucumber - 1/2 cucumber
  • sliced tomato - 1 medium

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, sesame oil, gochujang, green onion, minced garlic, egg, panko breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the tuna mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the kimchi mayo by mixing the mayonnaise and chopped kimchi in a small bowl.
  5. Toast the whole grain burger buns in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading the kimchi mayo on the bottom bun, adding the lettuce, tuna patty, sliced cucumber, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately with a side of pickled vegetables or sweet potato fries.
