Ingredients

  • Korean radish (mu) - 200 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Peel the Korean radish and cut it into thin strips or matchsticks.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the radish strips with salt and let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture.
  3. After 10 minutes, rinse the radish under cold water and drain well.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the sugar, rice vinegar, gochugaru, minced garlic, and sesame oil until the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Add the drained radish to the dressing mixture and toss well to coat.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and mix again.
  7. Transfer the pickled radish to a clean jar or container, seal it, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving for the best flavor.
