- Water - 1.5 cups (360ml)
- Nori seaweed sheets - 2 sheets
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (9g)

- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in fresh water for 30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to a pot with 1.5 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the seasoning by mixing soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and stir in the seasoning mixture. Let it sit covered for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- While the rice rests, cut the nori seaweed sheets into small strips or squares.
- To serve, divide the seasoned rice between two bowls, top with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and the nori strips.
