Ingredients

  • Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Nori (seaweed) sheets - 2 sheets, cut into strips
  • Carrot - 1 small, grated
  • Cucumber - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon, to taste
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cooked short-grain rice, sesame oil, soy sauce, and salt. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated.
  2. Add the grated carrot, chopped cucumber, and green onion to the rice mixture. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Wet your hands with a little water to prevent sticking, take a small handful of the rice mixture, and form it into a tight ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  4. Place the rice balls on a plate and gently roll them in black sesame seeds for garnish.
  5. Serve the rice balls with additional soy sauce or dipping sauce on the side if desired.
