- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon (15 grams)
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (10 grams)
- Green onions - 1, finely chopped
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- In another bowl, mix the beaten egg with water, and then add it to the flour mixture. Stir until a thick batter forms.
- Add the chicken pieces to the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully drop the battered chicken pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey, gochujang, and sesame oil over low heat. Stir until well combined and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Toss the fried chicken pieces in the sauce until evenly coated.
