Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Vegetable oil - 100 ml (for frying)
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture by wrapping it in a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for about 15 minutes.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Add the tofu cubes and let marinate for 10 minutes.
- In a shallow dish, spread the cornstarch evenly. Dredge each piece of marinated tofu in cornstarch, ensuring an even coating.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan.
- Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Sprinkle the fried tofu with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
