Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams (80/20 blend)
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional for extra heat)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, gochujang, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper until combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  5. Once the patties are done, assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  6. Place a lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by the cooked patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
  7. Sprinkle chili flakes on top of the vegetables if desired, then cap with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite side dish, such as sweet potato fries or a salad.
