Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and cook until they are golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, water, and red chili flakes (if using), then bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let it braise for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and black sesame seeds before serving.
