Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Mixed salad greens - 100 grams
  • Cooked brown rice - 200 grams

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu to remove excess water for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, gochujang, and rice vinegar to create the marinade.
  3. Place the tofu slices in the marinade and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Grill the marinated tofu slices for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
  6. While the tofu is grilling, prepare the salad by tossing mixed salad greens with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve the grilled tofu on a plate with a side of brown rice and the mixed salad greens.
