Ingredients
- Jasmine rice - 1 cup
- Water - 1 1/4 cups
- Soy sauce (kosher) - 3 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Thinly sliced beef (such as brisket or flank steak) - 250 grams
- Green onion (sliced) - 2 stalks
- Carrot (julienned) - 1 small
- Bell pepper (sliced) - 1/2 medium
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade, mix well, and let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced green onions, carrot, and bell pepper; stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
- To serve, place a scoop of cooked rice on each plate, top with the stir-fried vegetables and beef, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
