Ingredients
- Ground halal beef - 250 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Carrot, finely diced - 1 small
- Mushrooms, finely chopped - 100 grams
- Frozen peas - 50 grams
- Puff pastry sheets - 2 (approx. 25 cm x 25 cm each)
- Egg, beaten - 1 (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground halal beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, diced carrot, chopped mushrooms, and frozen peas to the skillet. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped green onions. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- Roll out one puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to fit a pie dish (approximately 20 cm in diameter).
- Transfer the pastry to the pie dish and fill it with the beef mixture, spreading it evenly.
- Roll out the second puff pastry sheet and place it over the filling. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork or crimping with your fingers. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over it.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
