Ingredients
- canned young green jackfruit in brine - 400 grams
- soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
- maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- scallions, sliced - 2 tablespoons
- sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- cooked rice or lettuce leaves for serving - as needed
Steps
- Drain and rinse the jackfruit thoroughly under cold water to remove excess brine, then cut off the hard core and shred the jackfruit pieces using your fingers or a fork.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, gochujang, maple syrup, minced garlic, minced ginger, and rice vinegar to create the marinade.
- Add the shredded jackfruit to the marinade and mix well, ensuring all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or longer for more flavor.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the marinated jackfruit along with the marinade. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jackfruit is heated through and slightly caramelized.
- Serve the Korean BBQ jackfruit hot, garnished with sliced scallions and sesame seeds, alongside cooked rice or in lettuce leaves.
