Ingredients
- Gluten-free all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 50 grams
- Chopped walnuts or peanuts - 30 grams
- Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free all-purpose flour, warm water, active dry yeast, 30 grams of sugar, and salt. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- In another bowl, mix together the brown sugar, chopped walnuts or peanuts, and cinnamon powder to create the filling.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into four equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
- Flatten each ball into a disc and place a spoonful of the filling in the center. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal tightly.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Place two filled dough balls in the skillet, seam side down, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the hotteok and add a little water (about 30 ml) to the skillet. Cover with a lid to steam for an additional 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling, adding more oil as needed.
- Serve warm and enjoy your gluten-free hotteok!
