Steps

  1. In a pot, bring water to a boil. Carefully add the eggs and boil for 7 minutes for soft-boiled eggs.
  2. After 7 minutes, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Peel the eggs gently and set aside.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper until combined.
  5. Slice the cooled eggs in half and place them in a serving dish, cut side up.
