Ingredients

  • Eggs - 4 large
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 30 grams, finely diced
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chili pepper - 1 small, thinly sliced (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, crack the 4 large eggs and whisk them gently until the yolks and whites are fully combined.
  2. Add 200 ml of water, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to the egg mixture, and whisk until smooth.
  3. Stir in the finely chopped green onion and diced carrot, mixing well.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into a heatproof bowl or a shallow dish that fits into your steamer.
  5. Fill a pot or steamer with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and place the bowl with the egg mixture inside the steamer.
  6. Cover the steamer with a lid and steam for about 15 minutes, or until the egg is set and fluffy.
  7. Once cooked, carefully remove the bowl from the steamer. Garnish with sliced red chili pepper if desired, and serve hot.
