Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as cod or halibut) - 300 grams
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
- Water - 150 ml
- Mirin (or rice wine) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (thinly sliced) - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
- Carrot (julienned) - 1 small
- Bell pepper (sliced) - 1/2 small
- Red chili pepper (sliced, optional) - 1
- Black pepper - to taste
- Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a medium bowl, combine gluten-free soy sauce, water, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sliced ginger to make the sauce.
- Place the white fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the sauce over them, marinating for about 10 minutes.
- In a non-stick skillet, add the marinated fish and the remaining sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add the julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, and red chili pepper (if using) to the skillet.
- Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, spooning the sauce over the fish occasionally, until the fish is cooked through and vegetables are tender.
- Remove the lid, add chopped green onions and black pepper to taste, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, and enjoy with steamed rice or gluten-free noodles.
