Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as cod or halibut) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Mirin (or rice wine) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Ginger (thinly sliced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Carrot (julienned) - 1 small
  • Bell pepper (sliced) - 1/2 small
  • Red chili pepper (sliced, optional) - 1
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, combine gluten-free soy sauce, water, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sliced ginger to make the sauce.
  2. Place the white fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the sauce over them, marinating for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a non-stick skillet, add the marinated fish and the remaining sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  4. Add the julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, and red chili pepper (if using) to the skillet.
  5. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, spooning the sauce over the fish occasionally, until the fish is cooked through and vegetables are tender.
  6. Remove the lid, add chopped green onions and black pepper to taste, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, and enjoy with steamed rice or gluten-free noodles.
