Ingredients

  • Fresh oysters - 200 grams
  • Nori sheets - 2
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sea salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped

Steps

  1. Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, combine the oysters with lemon juice, sesame oil, and sea salt, and let them marinate for about 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the vegetables by julienning the cucumber and carrot, and slicing the avocado.
  4. Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat or clean surface with the shiny side down.
  5. Arrange a layer of marinated oysters in the center of the nori, followed by a line of cucumber, carrot, and avocado slices.
  6. Sprinkle gochugaru and chopped cilantro over the filling.
  7. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the nori away from you, tucking the filling in tightly, and continue rolling until the entire sheet is rolled up.
  8. Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Repeat with the second nori sheet.
  9. Serve the Gul Kimbap immediately with extra lemon wedges and dipping sauce if desired.
