Ingredients

  • Mackerel - 2 whole fish (about 300g each)
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon - 1, sliced for garnish
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Clean the mackerel thoroughly, removing any innards and rinsing under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Rub the marinade all over the mackerel, ensuring it gets inside the cavity. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using a grill, oil the grates lightly to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the mackerel on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the skin is crispy and the fish is cooked through.
  6. Once done, remove from the grill and let it rest for a minute. Serve with lemon slices and a sprinkle of salt, if desired.
