Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 200 milliliters
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Red bean paste (sweetened) - 100 grams
  • Sesame seeds (toasted) - 2 tablespoons
  • Coconut milk - 50 milliliters
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour and sugar.
  2. Gradually add water while stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a heatproof bowl and place it in a steamer.
  4. Steam the mixture for about 20 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  5. While the dough is steaming, prepare the red bean paste by mixing it with coconut milk and vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat until warmed through.
  6. Once the dough is ready, remove it from the steamer and let it cool slightly before handling.
  7. Divide the dough into equal portions and flatten each piece into a disc.
  8. Place a spoonful of red bean paste in the center of each disc, fold the dough over, and seal it to form a ball.
  9. Roll the finished balls in toasted sesame seeds to coat them evenly.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
