- Mackerel fillets - 200 grams
- Short-grain rice - 100 grams
- Water - 1 liter
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Carrot - 1 small, diced
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, bring 1 liter of water to a boil, then add the soaked rice and reduce to a simmer.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sea salt to the pot, stirring occasionally.
- After about 15 minutes, add the mackerel fillets and diced carrot, cooking until the fish is flaky and the rice is soft, about another 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped green onions and sesame oil, adjusting seasoning with black pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a couple of minutes before serving.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
