Ingredients
- Tempeh - 200 grams
- Gochujang - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup
- Green onion - 2, chopped
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Vegan mayo - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes to soften it, then let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, crumble the steamed tempeh into fine pieces.
- Add gochujang, soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, breadcrumbs, chopped green onion, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil. Cook the patties for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and heated through.
- While the patties are cooking, mix the vegan mayo with lime juice in a small bowl to create a sauce.
- To assemble, spread the lime mayo on the bottom of each burger bun, add a lettuce leaf, place the tempeh patty on top, and layer with tomato and cucumber slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Gochujang Tempeh Burgers.
