Ingredients

  • Popcorn kernels - 100 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Roasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped green onions - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add a few popcorn kernels and cover the pot with a lid.
  2. Once the test kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels in an even layer, cover the pot, and shake it gently to coat the kernels with oil.
  3. Allow the popcorn to pop, shaking the pot occasionally to prevent burning. Once popping slows down, remove from heat and let it sit for a minute.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
  5. Drizzle the gochujang mixture over the popped popcorn while tossing to ensure even coating.
  6. Sprinkle the roasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the popcorn and toss again.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy Gochujang Popcorn!
