Ingredients

  • Carrots - 300 grams, peeled and cut into sticks
  • Gochujang (Korean red chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish
  • Green onions - 1, sliced, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, add the sliced carrots and enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly tender.
  2. Drain the carrots and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, combine the gochujang, maple syrup, soy sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic over medium heat. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Add the drained carrots to the skillet and toss them in the glaze, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until the carrots are fully coated and tender.
  5. Remove from heat and transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
