Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, diced
  • Frozen peas - 100 grams
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
  3. While the rice is cooking, heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the diced carrot and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
  6. Add frozen peas and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and add it to the skillet with the vegetables.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the gochugaru and soy sauce, then pour over the rice and vegetables. Stir well to combine.
  9. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt to taste.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
