  • 400g firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 whole wheat burger buns
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 small carrot, julienned
  • 2 lettuce leaves
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, crumble the pressed tofu into small pieces.
  2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, gochujang, and cornstarch to the tofu, mixing well until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two patties, ensuring they hold together well.
  4. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns and toppings.
  7. Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on a separate skillet, if desired.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the tofu patty, cucumber slices, and carrot julienne.
  9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and garnish, then place the top half of the bun.
