Ingredients

  • Beef short ribs - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 60 ml
  • Brown sugar - 30 grams
  • Sesame oil - 15 ml
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Cooked white rice - 2 cups
  • Carrot (julienned) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  2. Add the beef short ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the beef is marinating, prepare the rice according to package instructions.
  4. After marinating, heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side until cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. In the same skillet, lightly sauté the julienned carrots and sliced cucumber for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your preference.
  7. To assemble the bowls, place a serving of cooked rice at the bottom of each bowl. Top with grilled beef short ribs, sautéed vegetables, and a fried egg.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
