Ingredients

  • Beef short ribs - 600 grams
  • Water - 1 liter
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Garlic - 5 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Carrots - 1 medium, sliced
  • Daikon radish - 150 grams, cubed
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large pot, soak the beef short ribs in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess blood. Drain and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, combine 1 liter of water with the soaked short ribs, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 1 hour, skimming any foam that rises to the surface.
  4. After 1 hour, add the sliced carrots and cubed daikon radish to the pot. Stir to combine and cover again, simmering for an additional 30 minutes or until the meat is tender.
  5. Once cooked, drizzle sesame oil over the dish and stir in the chopped green onions. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds.
