  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Korean gochujang (red chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 500 milliliters
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Carrot, julienned - 1 small
  • Cabbage, chopped - 1 cup

Steps

  1. Soak the rice noodles in warm water for about 15 minutes or until softened, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the Korean rice cakes and cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently until they start to soften.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and water until well combined.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the rice cakes in the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add the soaked rice noodles, chopped cabbage, and julienned carrot to the skillet, stirring well to coat everything in the sauce.

  8. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot.
