- Rice cakes (tteok) - 200 grams
- Water - 500 ml
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
- Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Fish cake (optional, gluten-free) - 100 grams, sliced
- Boiled egg - 2, halved (for topping)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a medium pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil.
- Add the rice cakes to the boiling water and cook for 5-7 minutes until they become soft and chewy.
- While the rice cakes are cooking, in a separate bowl, mix gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
- Once the rice cakes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot over medium heat.
- Pour the sauce over the rice cakes and stir to coat evenly.
- Add the fish cake slices (if using) and chopped green onions, cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Serve hot, topping each bowl with a halved boiled egg and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
