- Korean rice cakes (tteok) - 200 grams
- Ground chicken or turkey - 200 grams
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Bell pepper - 1/2, sliced
- Mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - to taste
- Sesame seeds - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl, mix the ground chicken with gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and black pepper. Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated ground chicken and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare the rice cakes. If using frozen tteok, soak them in hot water for 10 minutes to soften.
- In a baking dish, arrange the softened rice cakes in a single layer. Spoon the cooked chicken mixture evenly over the rice cakes.
- Top with sliced bell pepper, mushrooms, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
