  • Korean rice cakes (tteok) - 200 grams
  • Ground chicken or turkey - 200 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Bell pepper - 1/2, sliced
  • Mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground chicken with gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and black pepper. Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated ground chicken and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the rice cakes. If using frozen tteok, soak them in hot water for 10 minutes to soften.
  5. In a baking dish, arrange the softened rice cakes in a single layer. Spoon the cooked chicken mixture evenly over the rice cakes.
  6. Top with sliced bell pepper, mushrooms, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
