Ingredients
- Sweet rice flour - 200 grams
- Water - 180 milliliters
- Maple syrup - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
- Red bean paste (sweetened) - 100 grams
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sweet rice flour, water, maple syrup, and salt. Stir until smooth and well combined.
- Grease a steaming container with coconut oil to prevent sticking.
- Pour half of the batter into the greased container, spreading it evenly. Add a layer of red bean paste on top, then cover with the remaining batter.
- Cover the container with a lid or a cloth to prevent water from dripping onto the batter during steaming.
- Prepare a steamer with boiling water and place the container inside. Steam for about 25 minutes, or until the rice cake is firm and cooked through.
- Remove the container from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes. Once cool enough to handle, remove the Ddeok from the container.
- Cut the rice cake into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
