Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder (thinly sliced) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (Korean red chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Rice (uncooked) - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Carrot (julienned) - 1 small
  • Bell pepper (sliced) - 1 small
  • Green onion (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced pork to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the pork is marinating, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium pot, combine the rice and water, then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated pork and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pork is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  5. Add the julienned carrot and sliced bell pepper to the skillet, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and divide it between two bowls. Top the rice with the cooked Daeji Bulgogi mixture.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onion and sesame seeds before serving.
