  • Rice vinegar - 30 ml
  • Sugar - 15 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a pot, combine water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let the marinade simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Add the mackerel fillets to the pot and gently simmer for 10 minutes, ensuring they are cooked through.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and allow the mackerel to cool in the marinade for 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mackerel to a serving dish, then pour the marinade over it.
