- Tteok (Korean rice cakes) - 200 grams
- Korean red chili pepper flakes (gochugaru) - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
- Green onions (sliced) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds (toasted) - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 100 ml
Steps
- In a medium bowl, combine gochugaru, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and minced garlic to create a spicy glaze.
- Cut the tteok into bite-sized pieces (about 2 cm thick) and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the tteok and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove the fried tteok and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- While the tteok is still warm, toss it in the spicy glaze until evenly coated.
- Plate the chili pepper snack and sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
