- Rice flour - 100 grams
- Tapioca starch - 30 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Spinach - 50 grams, blanched and chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Egg - 1 large, beaten
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Green onion - 1 stalk, finely chopped
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca starch, and salt. Gradually add water while whisking until smooth. Let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
- Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil. Lightly grease a flat steaming tray or a heatproof plate.
- Pour a thin layer of batter onto the greased tray, making sure it covers the bottom evenly. Steam for 4-5 minutes until set.
- Spread a portion of the chopped spinach, julienned carrot, and a drizzle of beaten egg over the steamed batter. Steam for another 2-3 minutes until the egg is cooked.
- Carefully roll the steamed mixture from one end to the other to form a log. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining batter and fillings.
- Slice the rolled Cheong Fun into bite-sized pieces. Drizzle with sesame oil and soy sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
