Ingredients

  • Chayote - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, toasted
  • Green onion - 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • Water - 1 cup

Steps

  1. Wash the chayote thoroughly and cut it in half. Scoop out the seed and slice the flesh into thin strips.
  2. In a pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the chayote strips and blanch them for about 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Drain the chayote and transfer it to a mixing bowl. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, and salt to the bowl with the chayote. Toss gently to combine.
  5. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onion on top. Mix well to ensure even distribution.
  6. Serve immediately or allow it to chill in the refrigerator for a more refreshing taste.
