- Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Green onion - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, grated carrot, chopped green onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into small, flat patties (about 1/2 inch thick). You should get approximately 8 patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet, frying in batches if necessary.
- Cook each patty for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with a side of dipping sauce, such as soy sauce mixed with a bit of vinegar and sesame seeds.
