Ingredients

  • Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup
  • All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Carrot - 1 small, grated
  • Green onion - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, grated carrot, chopped green onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Using your hands, form the mixture into small, flat patties (about 1/2 inch thick). You should get approximately 8 patties.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet, frying in batches if necessary.
  4. Cook each patty for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve warm with a side of dipping sauce, such as soy sauce mixed with a bit of vinegar and sesame seeds.
