Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Rice wine - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick, and place them in a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, chopped green onion, red pepper flakes (if using), and rice wine to create the marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the beef strips, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for deeper flavor.
  4. Preheat your oven to 70°C (160°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Arrange the marinated beef strips in a single layer on the baking sheet, making sure they do not overlap.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven and let the beef dry for about 3-4 hours, or until it is dry and chewy but not brittle. Flip the strips halfway through the drying time for even results.
  7. Once done, remove the jerky from the oven and let it cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
