Ingredients
- Beef sirloin - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
- Spinach - 100 grams, blanched
- Cooked white rice - 1 cup
- Seaweed sheets (gimbap/nori) - 4 sheets
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Add thinly sliced beef and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the beef marinates, prepare the vegetables: julienne the carrot and cucumber, and blanch the spinach in boiling water for 1 minute, then drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the marinated beef for about 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Lay a seaweed sheet on a bamboo mat or clean surface. Spread 1/4 cup of cooked rice evenly over the seaweed, leaving a 2 cm border at the top.
- Place a strip of cooked beef, some julienned carrot, cucumber, and a handful of blanched spinach on top of the rice.
- Sprinkle a few sesame seeds over the filling. Starting from the bottom, roll the gimbap tightly, using the mat to help shape it.
- Repeat the rolling process with the remaining seaweed sheets and filling ingredients.
- Once rolled, slice each gimbap into bite-sized pieces and serve with pickled vegetables or soy sauce.
