Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80% lean) - 300g
  • Soy sauce - 30ml
  • Brown sugar - 10g
  • Sesame oil - 10ml
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 tsp
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • Green onion (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2 medium
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tbsp
  • Mayonnaise - 1 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 tsp

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and chopped green onion. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Form the beef mixture into two equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to help them cook evenly.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing gochujang and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Adjust the spice level to your preference.
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty, slices of tomato, cucumber, and a generous drizzle of the gochujang mayo sauce.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish, close the burgers with the top bun, and serve immediately.
