Steps
- Press the firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, water, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sugar, and black pepper to create the braising sauce.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the tofu cubes, frying them until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour the braising sauce over the browned tofu, then reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet.
- Let the tofu simmer in the sauce for 10-15 minutes, occasionally stirring gently to ensure even coating.
- Once the sauce has thickened slightly, remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
