Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Water - 200 milliliters
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the potato pieces to the skillet and stir well to coat them with the oil and garlic.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce and water. Add the sugar and stir to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and let the potatoes simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until tender.
  5. Uncover the skillet, increase the heat to medium, and let the sauce reduce for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened slightly, drizzle the sesame oil over the potatoes, and season with black pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
