Ingredients

  • Beef brisket - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Tteok (Korean rice cakes) - 200 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Water - 300 milliliters
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat and add the sliced onion. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sliced beef to the pot, cooking until the beef is browned.
  3. Stir in the gochujang, soy sauce, and sugar, mixing everything together well.
  4. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing it to cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. Add the tteok (rice cakes) to the pot, stirring gently to coat them in the sauce. Let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes until the tteok is heated through and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Finally, stir in the chopped green onions and cook for an additional minute.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds.
