Ingredients

  • Halal ground beef - 300 grams
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, shredded
  • Carrot - 50 grams, shredded
  • Cucumber - 50 grams, julienned
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Gochujang - 1 tablespoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined and form into two equal patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.
  3. In another bowl, mix the shredded cabbage, carrot, and cucumber. In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt, then pour over the vegetables and toss to combine. Let it sit for a few minutes to marinate.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the gochujang and mayonnaise together to create the gochujang mayo.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the skillet until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of gochujang mayo on the bottom bun, followed by the cooked beef patty, and then pile on the marinated slaw. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun, serve immediately, and enjoy your Banchan Burger!
