Ingredients

  • Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup
  • Nori (seaweed sheets) - 2 sheets
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Carrot, finely grated - 1/4 cup
  • Cucumber, finely diced - 1/4 cup
  • Green onion, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated carrot, diced cucumber, chopped green onion, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Cut the nori sheets into quarters.
  4. Wet your hands slightly to prevent sticking, take a small amount of the rice mixture (about 2 tablespoons), and form it into a ball.
  5. Place the rice ball in the center of a nori quarter, fold the nori over the rice ball, and gently press to seal it. Repeat with the remaining mixture and nori.
  6. Place the wrapped rice balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top of each rice ball.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the nori is crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
