Ingredients

  • Napa cabbage - 8 large leaves
  • Ground pork - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Tomato sauce - 200 grams (for topping)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch the Napa cabbage leaves for about 2-3 minutes until softened. Remove and let cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until combined.
  4. Take a cooled cabbage leaf, place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture at the base of the leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly to form a roll. Repeat for all cabbage leaves.
  5. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the top.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
