- Napa cabbage - 8 large leaves
- Ground pork - 200 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1 large
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- Tomato sauce - 200 grams (for topping)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch the Napa cabbage leaves for about 2-3 minutes until softened. Remove and let cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until combined.
- Take a cooled cabbage leaf, place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture at the base of the leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly to form a roll. Repeat for all cabbage leaves.
- Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
