- Water - 200 milliliters
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Food coloring (optional) - a few drops
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until combined.
- In another bowl, mix water, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
- If using food coloring, divide the batter into portions and add the desired coloring to each, mixing thoroughly.
- Prepare a steaming container by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- Pour the batter into the prepared container, filling it about halfway to allow for rising.
- Cover the container with a lid or aluminum foil and steam over medium heat for about 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, check the cake with a toothpick; it should come out clean. If not, steam for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Once done, remove from heat and let it cool slightly before slicing into pieces. Serve warm or at room temperature.
