Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 200 grams
  • Sugar - 80 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 200 milliliters
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Food coloring (optional) - a few drops

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until combined.
  2. In another bowl, mix water, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
  4. If using food coloring, divide the batter into portions and add the desired coloring to each, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Prepare a steaming container by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared container, filling it about halfway to allow for rising.
  7. Cover the container with a lid or aluminum foil and steam over medium heat for about 30 minutes.
  8. After 30 minutes, check the cake with a toothpick; it should come out clean. If not, steam for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  9. Once done, remove from heat and let it cool slightly before slicing into pieces. Serve warm or at room temperature.
