Ingredients

  • Silken tofu - 300 grams
  • Dashi stock (Halal) - 500 ml
  • Napa cabbage - 100 grams, chopped
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Soy sauce (Halal) - 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili oil (optional) - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare the dashi stock by heating it in a pot until simmering.
  2. While the broth is heating, cut the silken tofu into cubes and set aside.
  3. Once the dashi is simmering, add the chopped napa cabbage, sliced shiitake mushrooms, and julienned carrot to the pot.
  4. Let the vegetables simmer for about 5 minutes until they soften slightly.
  5. Carefully add the cubed silken tofu to the pot and allow it to heat through for another 5 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, and sesame oil to create a dipping sauce.
  7. Once everything is heated, ladle the hot pot into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions and fresh coriander.
  8. Serve immediately with the dipping sauce on the side, and drizzle with chili oil if desired.
