Ingredients
- Chicken thigh - 300 grams, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Spring onions - 2 stalks, cut into 5 cm pieces
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Sake - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Bamboo skewers - 4, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken and spring onion pieces alternately onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char.
- Brush any remaining marinade onto the skewers during the grilling process for added flavor.
- Remove from the grill and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
