Ingredients

  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cooked Japanese rice - 2 cups
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the beef sirloin into thin slices and add it to the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the beef is marinating, prepare the rice according to package instructions if not already cooked.
  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef slices and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. In a serving bowl, place a generous scoop of cooked rice.
